Personal Accident Insurance (P.A.I.) - For the protection of the driver and other occupants, this product offers several guarantees that can cope with any unforeseen events. Medical Expenses up to a maximum of 1,500€ per person, and Compensation for death or permanent disability up to a maximum of 15,000€. There is an additional cost of 5,00€ per day of rental up to a maximum of 15 days per contract.
Use of the A22 motorway - Via do Infante
According to the new legislation of the Portuguese government Decree n84-C/2022, starting January 8, it is mandatory that all car rentals have the freeway toll device because all tolls will be charged to the car rental company.
Therefore, it is mandatory that all customers must have a credit card to be able to pick up their car so that we can charge the tolls accordingly.
Using the highway implies the payment of electronic tolls. The corresponding amount is charged to the customer's credit card, plus administrative fees of 1.75 euros + VAT per rental day up to a maximum of 17.50 euros + VAT per contract, in accordance with the INE's Consumer Price Index excluding housing. The legal basis supporting this is Ordinance 190/2013 - Article 3, point 3. The administrative fee is applied to all customers.
Customers without a credit card will not be allowed to pick up their rental car.
Mobile Wi-Fi without roaming costs
Airauto Mobile Wi-Fi wireless internet access for laptops, smartphones, tablets and other devices equipped with Wi-Fi.
With Airauto Mobile Wi-Fi you can check your inbox, upload your photos of holidays or even navigate the social networks, without being restricted to a fixed internet hotspot.
The Airauto Mobile WiFi connects to the internet through the 3G network by creating a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect your smartphone, tablet or portable, with a use of autonomy to 6 hours (when fully charged).

Cancel policy
Airauto will not refund any prepaid amount if the booking is not cancelled at least 72 hours before the pick-up day.

Car Types
All vehicles and models displayed on our website are examples of cars that may be provided. We cannot guarantee that the make or model of the rental vehicle will be the same as the vehicle displayed on our website when you make your online booking. We only guarantee that it will be a similar vehicle with the same characteristics.
Drivers Age and Driver´s License
The minimum age to rent a car is 18 years old and the driver must hold a driving license for at least 2 years with no major infringements.
For drivers under 24 years old, a young driver charge of 50€ will be applied to the rental contract.
An International Driver’s License (IDL) is required if the renter’s national driver’s license is not in Roman alphabet (e.g. Arabic, Greek, Russian or Chinese). International driver's license must be accompanied by the original domestic license of the driver.
UK license holders must present both, the photo card and its paper counterpart at the time of rental.
Additional Drivers
All additional drivers in your car rental contract must comply with same rules stated in the previous point.
Accidents / Road Assistance
In case of accident its mandatory to call the authorities and always fill in the European Accident Statement (Friendly Declaration / D.A.A.A.) and present the Accident Police Report (with or without fault) which has a cost of 90€.
The drivers proven to be under the influence of alcohol and / or narcotics, will be required to pay all the costs of any damage occurred.
24hours Road Assistance is available.
In case of accident or breakdown, the client must call / report the main office during opening hours, and can contact the road assistance number: +351 210 443 784 (Call to the national fixed network).
All the contacts are next to the car documents.
Driver Negligence
Any damage to the vehicle occurred due to driver’s negligence (burnt clutch, damage due to the driving on unsealed roads, parking the car on high sidewalk curbs, lost or damaged key, etc.) will be charged to the client for the full amount of the repair cost. Full insurance does not cover negligence.
Wrong Fuel
If client uses the wrong fuel while filling the car, the client will be charged for the full amount of the repair cost.
Parking and Speeding Fines
Identify customers to the local authorities for parking and speeding fines involves a charge of an administration fee of 25€.
Condition of Vehicle Interior
If the client returns the car with its interior unacceptably dirty and it needs extra cleaning or repair (cigarette burns on seating, etc.), the client will be charged for the full amount for cleaning and/or repair cost.
Car Documents Loss
If the client loses or doesn't have the car documents upon car return, we will charge the client 100€ to obtain new documents.
Out of Hours Policy
Out of hours service is allowed at the Faro Airport only, and it costs 50€ per service.
Out of hours for Pick-Up and Drop-Off is from 20:00 until 8:00.
Insurance Coverage
Standard rates include Collision Damage Waiver with an excess according to the car category. The client can reduce the excess fee by purchasing the SCDW. The SCDW does not cover damaged tyres, broken windows or forced locks. The client can purchase insurance for this coverage by selecting the TWL insurance when booking the car.
COVID-19 Insurance
The Covid-19 insurance presented on our website derives from a protocol made with one of our partners thinking about the safety of our customers. Airauto is in no way responsible or liable for this Covid-19 insurance, and all conditions, payments and policies should be dealt directly with the insurance company. For further information please contact the insurance company directly.
Fuel Policy
Our fuel policy is same-to-same. The car has to be returned with the same level of fuel that it had when it was collected. Missing fuel will be charged on return.
A fuel deposit will be required at the counter before picking up the vehicle. If the car is returned with the same level of fuel as it was when picked up, the deposit is released or refunded (in case of cash deposit).

Unlimited.
Cross Border Travel
Outside the national territory, our vehicles can only go to Spain. The Cross Border to Spain has to be purchased and it has a cost of 50€ per rental agreement. In the absence of this authorization, the customer is charged 0.50€ + VAT per Km travelled in Spain during the rental period.
Payment Methods and Deposit
For payments Airauto accepts credit cards, debit cards or cash. A credit card in the driver's name will be required at the rental desk. This is because a deposit is required, which is held on the credit card until the vehicle is returned. Our customers must ensure that the card has sufficient credit available at the time of rental. If the credit card is not valid or lacks sufficient funds, Airauto may refuse to release the vehicle.
Important: American Express credit cards are not accepted.
